Brown earth at war with itself. Scarred, cracked, boiling, as far as the eye can see. A wall of jagged rock in the distance. A fear in my gut. An instinctual, deep, respectful fear. Of power. Of the earth. Of the wall. My knees click as I wander about. A seagull screams. A boat booms its foghorn. I wake up in a strange new place. The distance is palpable.
